Carmen Lundy will be conducting the first-ever Master Class by a Jazz Vocalist at USC's Thornton School of Music. Thanks to Patrice Rushen and colleagues Kathleen Grace and Sara Gazarek, the Jazz and Popular Music program will be host to an intensive master class with Lundy. Now that 2014 is in full swing, we have some exciting concert dates to share with you. On March 13-15, I'll be at The Harlem Stage in NYC where a new Symposium and Concert celebrating the life of Mary Lou Williams will be presented. Created by Geri Allen and directed by S. Epatha Merkerson, "Conversations with Mary Lou" will be performed over 3 nights and will include a Cyber-Symposium to be held at Columbia University on March 12th. The extraordinary script is by Farah Jasmine Griffin.

Carmen Lundy had the honor and extreme pleasure of meeting Former President of South Africa Thabo Mbeki and his wife when they attended Carmen's concert at the Joy of Jazz Festival in Johannesburg, South Africa. Specifically there to hear Carmen Lundy's set, Mbeki asked to meet Carmen afterwards, and she and Elisabeth Oei joined them in their private quarters and even shared a light meal!
August brings us to the legendary Joy of Jazz Festival in Johannesburg, South Africa, our host on the nights of August 23rd and 24th. Summer into Fall starts off with a night at the trendy Blue Whale in downtown Los Angeles on Sept. 19th to kick off a CA tour highlighted by a concert set at the iconic Monterey Jazz Festival on Friday, September 20th. A performance at the Harris Center for the Arts in Sacramento is on Sept.

The Annual Mary Lou Williams Women In Jazz Festival at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. welcomes Carmen and her band back to the Terrace Theatre on May 10th. A Kennedy Center favorite, Carmen will be joined by Anthony Wonsey, Kenny Davis and Jamison Ross. May 12th will present Terri Lyne Carrington's "Mosaic Project", and the evening is sure to be full of surprises!
Joining the capacity crowd at the CD Release event at Studio City-based Jazz Upstairs at Vitello's was the incomparable and inspiring Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
